Our ultimate goal is to combine the strengths of each of the three primary Wagyu lines to raise the quality of the overall Wagyu genetics.

Lone Mountain's Wagyu genetics currently focus on four bulls (four of the top six Wagyu bulls in the 2006 Sire Summary (pdf) published by Washington State University): Michifuku, Fukutsuru 068, Takazakura and Sanjirou, all of the Tajima line.

Michifuku is acclaimed for his high meat quality and his feeder cattle are outstanding.

Fukutsuru 068, who boasts a double cross of Kikutsuru, is a 100% Tajima bull. Washington State University has indicated him to be the number one marbling bull. He has been coupled with large framed Shimane females to improve frame size, for high weight gain and extreme marbling.

Takazakura is a son of Takaei and grandson of the highly heritable Yasufuku, one of the greatest Tajima bulls.

Sanjirou has the potential to become one of the best Tajima sires. His genetic background suggests ideal meat production and excellent records in carcass quality: good meat quality, large ribeye, thick rib, and high yield rate from cut meat. He is well toned with good body width, and his fine bone is particularly exceptional.
